The World of 1099 reporting and the effects of recent law revisions and legislation imposed upon us continue to cause anxiety.
With the increase of penalties issued for incorrect TIN and Name matching and the likelihood of an audit with the IRS, DOL or both, the risks associated with non-compliance are greater than ever.
Be advised that in an attempt to decrease the "Tax Gap", the IRS intends to audit employers who issue both a 1099 and a W-2 to the same individual in the same calendar year.
Session Takeaways:
Lloyd Doletski (Self Employed)
"The speaker spoke in a fluent manner. The information was presented at a reasonable pace. I had no questions on the information presented. The displays were easy to read, very informative and answered any questions, which came to mind . The speaker was skilled in utilizing the displays in presenting the information of the webinar."James Hennick (Quandt Berndt)
"Ms. Miller presented a good overview of the red flags that IRS looks at, especially in regards to employee vs. independent contractor status. She also reviewed some tax scams that the IRS deals with. It is helpful for accountants to be aware of these issues as we get ready for the upcoming tax season."Sharon Cassady (Self-Employed)
"By far my favorite tax presenter! Who else can make an otherwise rather boring tax subject actually engaging? Great stats to help us see the big picture from a national perspective. Also, thoughtful polls that make us ponder. I can't say enough good things."Shirley Dykes (Jackson Hewitt)
"This was an excellent quick review of who is an independent contract vs who is an employee. And the "Dirty Dozen" scams of 2018 will definitely be in the waiting area for my customers to read while they wait."Carmen Shepherd (Parasol Accounting Services)
"Marcia Miller is a great instructor. She is extremely knowledgeable, engaging in her presentation-style and provides relevant materials that can referenced later. I'll be watching for her other courses!"Thomas Giunta (Thomas M. Giunta Tax & Financial Services)
"This Webinar was very informative and provided great information on what to be aware of with regards to employee/independent contractor status and Form 1099 Reporting...I highly recommend this Webinar."Jennifer Hopkins (The Bonadio Group)
"It was very informative. I liked the polling question that asked what we thought would help close the Gap issue. Some of the answers were scary but I liked that we got to chime in on that."Eli Uncyk (Kamerman, Uncyk, Soniker & Klein, PC)
"This was an exceptionally informative and detailed presentation. It's a "do not miss" program, and I have already circulated the materials and the link to my firm."
